1961RUSSELL CROFT DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Russell Croft, a resident of Winterset for many years, died Friday, Dec. 15, at Pacific Grove, Calif. He had lived in Pacific Grove since 1949, serving as a funeral director there.
Mr. Croft was 71 years of age at his death. He was born in Winterset and spent his early life here. As a young man he was married in 1922 to Blanche Hockenberry. They were parents of two sons. The wife and mother preceded him in death.
He was engaged in the funeral directing business in Winterset with Harry Tidrick, moving from here to Adair to operate a funeral parlor. He later moved to Des Moines, where he was married to Bertha Wallace, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves the two sons, Frank Croft of Des Moines and Phillip Croft of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Jones and Mrs. Nona Greenwood of Des Moines; and two brothers, Brig Gen. Frank C. Croft of Coronado, Calif., and George A. Croft of Des Moines. He also leaves two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services and burial were made at Pacific Grove.
