June 4, 1931Rosina Gabbert, born in Madison County, April 16, 1860, died at the State Hospital at Clarinda May 31, 1931, aged 71 years, 1 month and 15 days.
Brief words these, yet they cover a long span of life for one who was never possessed of normal mentality, yet she is one of God’s own children and in His infinite love and wisdom and justice has taken her to himself, where “He shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away.”
Rose, as she was familiarly called, was the fourth child born in the home of Michael and Mahulda Gabbert, early settlers in Madison County who came from Davenport, settling first on a farm near the Fairview Church, afterward moving to the farm now occupied by David and Mrs. Franklin, this homestead having been in their possession for more than fifty years.
She leaves to mourn, a sister Mrs. Jennie Franklin, and a brother, David to both of whom with the sister Ollie, deceased, is due much credit for the loving ministrations of kindness and tender consideration shown her in every way during her long years of confinement.
Funeral services for the deceased were held Tuesday afternoon from the Friends Church and burial was in Earlham Cemetery.
