Death Occurs at Hospital Following Heart Attack
John Kermit Creswell, a resident of Dallas and Madison counties all his life, died at a Des Moines hospital thursday, Aug. 13, following a heart attack. He was 58 years of age.
Mr. Creswell was born in Jackson township on May 25, 1906, a son of James L. and Ethel Creswell. He was married at Creston on Dec. 25, 1928 to Edna Bennett. They moved to a farm south of Stuart in 1933, where they lived until 1945, when they moved to their home in Penn township.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; two sons, Kermit J. Creswell of Earlham and Kennth F. Creswell, at home; a granddaughter, Renee Lynn; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Creswell of Dexter.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Penn Center Methodist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. John Latta officiating. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

Dexter, IowaJohn Kermit Creswell, only child of James L. and Ethel Creswell, was born in Jackson township, Madison county, Iowa, May 25, 1906. He lived all his life in the Dallas and Madison county area except for a short time spent in Washington state.
He was married December 25, 1928, to Edna Bennett at Creston, Iowa. They moved to a farm south of Stuart in 1933, where they lived until 1945 when they moved to their present home in Penn township. This move accomplished one of the high hopes of Kermit’s life, to live on his grandfather Overhulser’s farm. His sudden death, due to a heart attack, came at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 19 days at 6:45 a.m. August 14 in Methodist hospital, Des Moines, where he had gone for back surgery.
He is survived by his wife Edna, sons Kermit James and wife Janice of Earlham; Kenneth Fay at home; one granddaughter, Renee Lynn; his mother Ethel Creswell of Dexter, and many relatives and friends.
Kermit was a member of the Penn Center Methodist church, were final rites were conducted by Rev. John Latta Saturday, Aug. 15. Interment was made in the Penn Center cemetery. Casket bearers were Walter Heimberger, Jasper Lenocker, D. E. Belgard, Carroll Bennett, James Graham and Byrd Williams. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Lamar Easley, Mrs. Scott Day, Mrs. Lester Boyle and Mrs. Fred Morford, sr. Ross Leeper sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. LaVere McCleary at the piano.
