1976Phyllis Creger Death Reported In California
A former long-time resident of the Truro community, Phyllis Holland Creger, died Sunday, August 1, 1976, in Pasadena, Calif., where she made her home. She was born August 20, 1899, 76 years old at the time of her death.
Mrs. Creger was the daughter of George Fluke and Jennie Goltry Fluke. She was born at Osceola, Iowa, and educated in Osceola schools with a degree from the University of Iowa.
Mrs. Creger was married to Leland S. Creger on June 6, 1922 at Osceola. The couple had six children. The deceased was a school teacher while in Iowa, a 50 year member of Ivy Chapter No. 533 Order of the Eastern Star in Truro and Sarah Rebekah No. 57 at Osceola. She was also a member of the Mount Olive No. 2 Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem in Des Moines. Mrs. Creger was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Jack of El Sereno, Calif.; Bill of Pasadena, Calif.; Larry of Culver City, Calif. and Kent of Azuza, Calif. and a daughter, Kay of El Sereno, Calif.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren. Mrs. Creger was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter in infancy and a daughter-in-law, Delores.
Funeral services for Phyllis Holland Creger were held Friday, August 6, 1976, at 3 p.m. from Truro United Methodist Church, Rev. Clarence Moore officiating. Burial was made at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
