Former Truro Man Dies

Leland S. Creger, a former resident of Truro, died at the Hill Haven Convalescent Home in Arcadia, California on Saturday, September 8. He was 76 years old.

Creger was born on August 13, 1897, the son of Rubin Creger and Alta Lucas Creger. He attended Truro schools as a boy.

On June 6, 1922, he married Phyllis Fluke in Osceola. Six children were born to this union.

He made his living as a mail carrier before his retirement. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 483 and Eastern Star while in Truro.

He was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Creger was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Pasadena; sons, Bill Creger of Pasadena, Larry Creger of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jack Creger of Pasadena, Kay Creger of Pasadena and Kent Creger of Azusa, California; sister, Mrs. Reba Dickenson; and nine grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 13 in the United Methodist Church in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating.

Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.
