1997Dorothy G. Morford, 97, of Winterset died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998 of a stroke. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Penn Center Methodist Church near Earlham, with burial following at the Penn Center Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Kuhn Funeral Home of Dexter.
Mrs. Morford was born Sept. 18, 1900 in Madison County to Arch W. and Mata (Hart) Wight. She attended country school and later attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls.
Mrs. Morford taught school in Madison County. She married Hazen A. Morford of Dexter on Dec. 24, 1922 in the family home near Winterset. The family moved to near Earlham. Mrs. Morford was an active member of the Penn Center church and taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Morford is survived by one son, Marvin of West Des Moines; one daughter, Marcella McCleary of Dexter; one sister, Lois Peters of Greeley, Colo.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Morford was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Harry Wight; one sister, Ruby Lull; and one grandson.
