C. W. CRAWFORD OF WINTERSET DIES

Well-Known Resident Here Succumbs at 77 Years of Age

C. W. (Jess) Crawford, a well-known resident of Winterset for many years, died Saturday, March 21, at his home here. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Crawford was born at Patterson on Nov. 28, 1875. He came to Winterset as a young man, and his home had been here most of the years of his life.

He was one of the very first commercial truckers in Madison county, pioneering that field here. He was also an employee of Madison county for many years. He was affiliated with the Odd Fellows lodge here.

Mr. Crawford was married Feb. 10, 1909, to Nellie Rogers of Winterset, who survives him.

In addition to his wife; he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Lucinda Dorrell of Winterset; a half brother, Fred Collins of Orchard, Wash.; and a half-sister, Mrs. Frank Trumbauer of Bevington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Clemetn Loehr, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with grave-side rites by the I.O.O.F. lodge.
