Susan B. Cox, Downs, Kan.

Services for Susan Blanch Cox, 79, a former Winterset area resident of Downs, Kan., who died Sept. 7 at the Osbonne County Memorial Hospital of Downs, Kan., were held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Downs Methodist Church. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery near Downs.

Mrs. Cox was the youngest of six children born to Isaac John Gifford and Sarah Charity Stone Gifford in Peru on Aug. 26, 1909. She was married to Sylvanus Cox of Winterset. The couple had two sons, Donald and Burton. Donald preceded her in death at age 36. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include a sister, Sylvia Miller of Downs; her son, Dr. Burton D. Cox Sr of Downs; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

She was a charter member of the Solomon Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church in Downs.
