Death, Mrs. G. W. Ferguson

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. G. W. Ferguson, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles McGriff, in Monroe, on Monday, March 2nd. She had been ill but a few days, and was 84 years of age, at the time of her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wheeler were her parents, and she was born at Jeffersonville, Indiana, December 31, 1847. The family came to Mahaska county in 1852, but moved to Madison county, a short time later. Mrs. Ferguson made her home in this county until a month ago, when she went to Monroe to reside with her daughter.

On October 19, 1871, she was married to Mr. Ferguson, who preceded her in death eight months ago.

She leaves four children: Edwin of Spencer, William of Montrose, Colorado, Amos S. of Chicago, and Amy McGriff of Monroe. She also leaves eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Her funeral services were held in the Barney Church of Christ, Thursday, March 5th, at 2:30 o’clock, with the Rev. R. V. Hughes of Dallas in charge. Interment was made in the Barney cemetery.
