Services Monday For Ruth Cortner

Services for Mrs. Ruth E. Cortner, 62, of Winterset were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 18 at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Mrs. Cortner died Friday, June 15, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of John and Cora Farris Owens, she was born on May 8, 1917 at Exline, Ia. On November 1, 1937 she was married to Alfred Cortner at Unionville, Mo. They lived at Bedford, Ia. before moving to Winterset in 1947. Mrs. Cortner was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and three infant sisters. Surviving are her husband, Alfred; a son, Kenneth Cortner of Mitchellville; a daughter, Mrs. Deloris Kirkpatrick of Winterset; a brother, Trenton Owens of Centerville; a sister, Esther Sheets of Monmouth, Ill., and two grandchildren.
