December 1997Ruth B. McDonald, 95, of Mason City, died Dec. 1, 1997 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center in Mason City. Funeral services were Dec. 3 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
She was born in Ridgeway Mo. on March 16, 1902 to Virgil E. and Savilla (Cutler) Eyerly. Ruth attended Earlham Public Schools and the University of Iowa. She taught school in Earlham and Perry. On Oct. 2, 1932, she married True McDonald in Earlham. The couple lived in Lewis, Ia. and Mason City where she continued to work as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City, a charter member of the Minerva Study Club, past president of the PTA in both Mason City and Garfield PTA's.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
Surviving relatives include a son, Roscoe McDonald and his wife Sharon, of New Hampton; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
