Services for Elsie Marie Cooper, 81, of Cypress, Calif., who died in a Los Angeles hospital May 12, were held at the Church of Christ in Murray May 17 with the Rev. Randy Allison and the Rev. John Spradlin officiating. Burial was at Truro's Fields Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper was born July 5, 1901 in Clarke County, the daughter of James and Grace Camp Carter. She married Oda Cooper Feb. 21, 1921 in Osceola. Mr. Cooper died in November of 1931 and an infant daughter also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cooper lived in Clarke and Madison counties and in Des Moines before moving to California in 1958.
Survivors include a son, Ronald of Arroyo Grande, Calif., daughters, Mrs. Christine Hamilton, Arroyo Grande, Mrs. Donna Spence of Cypress and Mrs. Glenna Joan Leurs of Bellflower, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack of Winterset, Ira of Spring Hill, Laurell of Ft. Smith, Ark., and Harvey of Creston; and sisters, Mrs. Annis Jones and Opal Browns, both of Murray.
