Wednesday, December 11, 1963MRS. JOHN L. COOK DIED HERE MONDAY
Mrs. John L. Cook, a resident of Madison county the last 30 years, died Monday, Dec. 9, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 74 years of age.
Mrs. Cook was a native of Dallas county where she was born June 14, 1889. She was the former Mary Beveridge, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Lowe Beveridge.
She was married Nov. 21, 1905 in Polk county, to John L. Cook. She was a member of the Methodist church in Polk county.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, John F. Cook of St. Charles, Daniel W. Cook of Des Moines and Martin J. and Herbert Cook of St. Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Thornburg of New Virginia, Mrs. Merle Lane of West Des Moines and Mrs. Orville Hanks of Des Moines; 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Jordan cemetery in Polk county.
