FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN COOK

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset for John L. Cook, retired Madison county farmer, whose death had occurred Wednesday, Jan. 25, at a Winterset nursing home.

The Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Jordan cemetery at West Des Moines.

Mr. Cook was 81 years of age at his death. He was born in this county May 1, 1885, and spent his entire life here. He was married Nov. 21, 1905, to Mary Beveridge. Her death occurred in 1963.

Surviving are seven children; John F. Cook of St.Charles, Daniel W. Cook of Des Moines, Mrs. Kathryn Thornburg of New Virginia, Martin J. Cook of St. Charles, Herbert Cook of St. Charles, Mrs. Juanita Lane of West Des Moines, and Mrs. Dorothy Hanks of Des Moines. He also leaves 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; five brothers, Zack and Leslie Cook of Des Moines, Frank and Bill Cook of West Des Moines, and Ernest Cook of Mystic; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Lindley of Des Moines.
