Helen Faye Conrad, Winterset

Helen Faye Conrad, 91, of Winterset died of complications of diabetes Jan. 18, 1997, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were Jan. 21, 1997, at the Earlham Friends Church with Pastor Larry Nelson and Pastor Eldon Cole officiating. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 6, 1905, to Edward and Asenath Alice (Fry) Jenks in Warren County. She married Roland Conrad April 8, 1921, in Wiota. She worked as a cook at the Paulson Cafe in Earlham and the Dexter Hospital. She was a member of the Dallas County Farm Bureau Women and Chorus, Sorosis Club and served as a 4-H leader. She was also an active member of the Earlham Friends Church before moving to Winterset Care Center North, where she resided for the last nine years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; one sister; and twin great-grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include one son, Eugene Conrad of Earlham; two daughters, Marjorie Conaway of Everett, Wash., and Marilyn Gonseth of Earlham; one brother, Ed Jenks; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
