Raymond D. Conley, Winterset

Memorial services for Raymond D. Conley, 81, Winterset, who died Sept. 14 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Saturday, Sept. 17, at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. The body was cremated and private disposition of the ashes were made at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Plainfield, Ill., on April 29, 1907, he was the son of George and Mabel Merriam Conley. Mr. Conley was a retired salesman and the former owner and operator of the Red Hen Drive-In located at Summit and South Third Ave.

On Jan. 25, 1941, he was married to Evlyn Hollingsworth in Winterset. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and had lived in Winterset the past 46 years, coming from Wheaton, Ill. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Lakeview Country Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Conley and wife Marsha of Gladstone, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Conley of Wheaton; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
