Judge In Missouri Courts Many Years Was Native Of Madison County
Fred Clopton, a native of Madison county, died Saturday, May 21, at Macon, Mo., where he had lived for many years. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Clopton was a son of Lincoln and Ann Clopton and was born here Oct. 15, 1882. He farmed for many years near Macon. In April he was reelected to serve his second full term as city police judge in Macon. Previous to that he had served for many years on the county court as judge of the southern district and four years as presiding judge.
He was a member of the First Christian church at Macon, serving as deacon. Several years ago he was honored with the title of Deacon Emeritus.
He was married here Nov. 12, 1902, to Ethel Cridling of this community. They were parents of three daughters. The wife and mother preceded him in death many years ago.
He was married six years ago to Mrs. Stella Burnham of Moberly who survives him.
In addition to the wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Krueger of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. John Kibler of Kirkwood, Mo., and Mrs. Sidney Richardson of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Vina Baird and Mrs. Nelle Carr of Des Moines.
He also leaves two half-brothers, Gaymond and Haymond Clopton of Winterset; two half-sisters, Dorothy DeBok of Winterset and Doris Flynn of Kansas City
Funeral services were held Monday in Macon, after which the body was sent to Winterset for services here from Richards Funeral home this Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
