Martha Clarkson, Winterset

Martha Sarah Clarkson, 86, of Winterset, died Aug. 19, 1996 of a heart ailment at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held Aug. 22 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. The Rev. Bobby Dickerson will be officiating. Burial will follow at the McDonald-Chase Cemetery. Visitation will be today from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Family visitation is from 6-8 p.m.

She was born Dec. 13, 1909 in Earlham to John Williamson and Estella Stanley. She married Ray Mount in September of 1935 at Dexter, and after he passed away she married Harold Clarkson on August 29, 1962 in Yankton S.D. She was a retired Madison school teacher and homemaker. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County and was active in Farm Bureau and 4-H and a member of the West Star Ladies Aid Society and Friends Church in Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; two stepsons; one daughter; one step-daughter; one brother; and one sister.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Harold Clarkson of Winterset; two sons, Robert Mount and wife Marjorie of Ottumwa and Stanley Mount and wife Dottie Jo of Lorimor; one daughter, Martha Vandenbusch and husband Mike of Huntington Beach, Va.; two stepsons, Jack Mount and wife Mildred of Des Moines and Bobby Clarkson and wife Linda of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
