Arlene Joann Bryan, daughter of Frank and Thera Callison Schulz, was born in Madison County on August 31, 1925 and died on May 10, 1970 at the Wayne County hospital in Corydon, Iowa, after a short illness, at the age of 44 years.
She received her early education in the schools of Macksburg, attended the Baptist church of Macksburg during her youth.
She was united in marriage to Clem Bryan on March 12, 1949 at St. Joseph, Missouri, and they spent most of their married life in and around Allerton, Iowa. Just recently they had moved to Prairie City Iowa to make their home.
While residing in Allerton, Joann, attended the Christian Church. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxillary No. 379 and also had held a county office in the Auxillary.
Since moving to Prairie City she had become a member of the Friendly Farmers Club.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schulz of Macksburg; two sisters, Margaret Kirsher of Ashland, Oregon and Eloise Eyerly of Macksburg.
Funeral services were held from the Randolph Funeral home at Allerton on May 13, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Bonnie Rateike officiating.
Graveside services were held in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg on May 13 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Kinzler officiating.
