Lucille M. Christensen, Indianola

Lucille Marie Christensen, 73, of Indianola, died of a heart ailment June 9, 2001, at Mercy Hospital Medical center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset cemetery.

Lucille Christensen was born July 7, 1927 to Clarence Orlando and Jewell Pauline (Waltz) Dick. She was married Carl Christensen on Oct. 31, 1942. She later married Walter Vontrees on Jan. 15, 1972 in Dayton. A homemaker, Lucille spent most of her lifetime in Winterset until moving to Indianola in 1972. From 1979-81, she resided in Dayton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was survived by her husband, Walter Vontrees, of Indianola; five sons, Vernon and Carl Christensen, both of Indianola, William Chirstensen of Knoxville, Clair Christensen of Des Moines and Ronald Christensen of Norwalk; two daughters, Cheryl Keiser of Indianola and Linda Christensen of Des Moines; a sister, Agnes Frederick of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
