Dennis Carney, 60, of St. Charles died Nov. 15, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Darold Snow officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Peru Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.
Dennis Carney was born June 26, 1942, in Mt. Vernon to Walter and Alice (McLaughlin) Carney. A 1960 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, he attended the University of Dubuque and the University of Iowa. In December of 1979, he married Delores Lehmer. Dennis was employed by Farm Bureau and also was a bus driver for the West Des Moines School District. In 1994, he moved to St. Charles, having previously resided in Urbandale for many years. He was a member of the Shrine Lodge in Cedar Rapids and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of St. Charles; his mother, Alice of Mt. Vernon; a son, Mike Carney (wife Cindy) of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Michelle Moore of Rincon, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Peggy Ann Rothmeyer (fiance Steven Burke) of Des Moines; a stepson, Ken Todden of Newton; three grandchildren and a stepgrandson.
