Helen Callahan, Winterset

Services for Helen Elinor Rose Callahan, 71, Winterset, who died Nov. 28, at Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Monday, Dec. 2 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 8, 1914, she was the daughter of Chele and Rose Sanders Showers. She had lived in St.Charles before moving to Winterset, where she had lived for 28 years. She was a housewife and a member of the Methodist religion.

On Oc.t 8, 1938 she was married to Laurence Callahan at Fort Dodge.

Survivors include her husband; sons, James LeRoy of Bloomington, Minn., Donald of Lincoln, Neb., Dwayne of Lincoln, Neb., Gordon of Omaha and Roger of Earlham; daughters, Diann Farwell, Paulette Hochstetler and Nancy Wiedman, all of Winterset; and brothers, Frank Showers of St. Charles and Chester Showers of Osceola; and 19 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
