NELSON A. WOODS, Waukee

Nelson A. Woods, 86, of Waukee died of heart failure July 3, 1999, at Granger Manor Care Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Waukee. Burial was at Waukee Cemetery.

Nelson Woods was born May 13, 1913, in Madison county to Austin Albert and Eva Lena (Alexander) Woods. He married Byna Bechtel on March 3, 1935, in Adel. During his lifetime, he lived in Madison, Story and Dallas counties. He retired in 1972 from farming. Nelson was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Waukee.

He was preceded in death by his wife Byna, one sister and two brothers.

He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Shoeman (husband John) and Harriet Hawbaker (husband Steve), both of Waukee, Nancy Peggs (husband Gary) of Madrid and Patricia Nelson (husband Ronald) of Spicer, Minn.; two sisters, Harriet Garmon of Norwalk and Mary Smith of Earlham; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were handled by Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center.
