Orville Byers Services Saturday

Orville Oren Byers from St. Charles, a retired farmer, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1978, at Villa West Care Center in Winterset. He was 80 years of age.

Mr. Byers was born in Carbon, Iowa on Feb. 8, 1898, the son of John L. and Minnie Trowbridge Byers. He was educated in the Elkhart country schools and was married on December 22, 1920, to Pearl Andrews.

Mr. Byers farmed near Bondurant for 35 years before moving to St. Charles in 1967.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl of St. Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Young of St. Charles, Iowa and Mrs. Lenora Morrow of St. Charles, Mo., six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Clifford of Nevada, Leslie "Mike" of Mitchellville, Jack of Bondurant and Wilbur of Clute, Texas and a sister, Mabel Pharres of Marshallton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pearl, Iva and Violet and two brothers, Charles and Loren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. from Kale Funeral Home at Truro with burial at St. Charles Cemetery. Rev. Rolland C. Towell of St. Charles officiated.
