Last Surviving Member of Bush Family was 88 Years of Age
Thomas J. Bush of Winterset died last Friday, Oct 15, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Bush was born at Burlington, Oct. 6, 1877, a son of Jackson A. and Sarah Walker Bush. A long-time resident of Madison county, he engaged in farming during his active life. He was retired and had lived in Winterset the last eight years.
Mr. Bush was married March 19, 1930, at Benson, Minn., to Hattie E. Nelson, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Faye Woodring of Omaha; two step-daughters, Mrs. Marie Lake of Orient and Mrs. Dorothy Stoeger of Canoga Park, Calif.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.
He was the last member of the Bush family. Eight brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Hill of Zion church, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church at Winterset, and the Rev. George W. Fairbanks of Orient. Burial was made in Zion cemetery.
