Mary Adaline Ball was born in Brown county Ohio, on Oct. 30, 1853 and died on Dec. 18, 1920 at the Winterset hospital after 27 years of suffering from paralysis. She was married on Feb. 23, 1875 to Peter Busch and lived in Ohio several years, then with her husband moved to Iowa in 1886. Her home has been near Winterset for the last 20 years.
She was the mother of ten children, two dying in infancy; Carrie, who was killed 7 years ago, and Mrs. Onie Gentry, who died 5 years ago; the following living: Stephen Busch, Rockwell City; Edith Arahood, Des Moines; Lawrence Busch, Hampton Roads, Va.; Mrs. Blanche Lippy, Des Moines; Mrs. Annie Yates, Winterset, and Minnie who has been at Oakdale for the past six months, but previous to that time had been the home-keeper for her father and mother.
She was always patient and loving to all who cared for her during her invalid years and was always best satisfied with her children and grandchildren about her and in her own home. She always had a good word for all and was careful not to say anything that would harm anyone. She had been unable to talk for the past 8 years, but showed by smiles her appreciation of kindness shown by friends and neighbors. She loved children and was a great favorite with them all. Her home was her first thought. She leaves to mourn her death, the husband who has been a faithful companion, the six living children, other relatives and many friends.
