Wayne Bumbarger, St. Charles

Wayne Elston Bumbarger, 85, died July 15, 1993 at Winterset Care Center South. Funeral services were held July 17 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Jim Patrick officiating. Burial was at New Virginia Cemetery.

Mr. Bumbarger was born April 26, 1908 in Madison County to W. G. and Villa (Black) Bumbarger. He married Dot thompson May 5, 1929 in Osceola. He had worked as a maintenance engineer for the Natural Gas Pipeline in Truro, retiring in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Bernal Bumbarger and wife Betty of Winterset, and Russell Bumbarger and wife Judy of Marion; a daughter, Joyce Glenn and husband Ron of Ft. Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

WAYNE E. BUMBARGER

Wayne Elston Bumbarger, son of W. G. and Villa M. Black Bumbarger, was born April 26, 1908, in South Township, Madison County and died July 15, 1993, at Care Center South in Winterset. He was 85.

Educated in the New Virginia Schools, he was married to Dot Thompson on May 5, 1929, at Osceola. The couple were the parents of three children, Bernal, Russell and Joyce.

Mr. Bumbarger lived in St. Charles and was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline Company near Truro as a maintenance engineer until his retirement in 1973. He enjoyed taking pictures, woodworking and all kinds of crafts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dot in 1944; brother, Arlo and two sisters, Cleo Armstrong and Garneta Shutt.

He is survived by two sons, Bernal Bumbarger and his wife, Betty, of Winterset and Russell Bumbarger and his wife, Judy, of Marion; daughter, Joyce Glenn and her husband, Ron, of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Mr. Bumbarger were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola at 11 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Jim Patrick of Indianola officiating. Organist, Pennie Gonseth accompanied soloist, Emil Rinderspacher as he sang The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art.

Casket bearers were John Ayers, Ernest Libby, Richard A. Gray, Richard Gray, Jim Crawford and Grant Llewellyn. Interment was in the New Virginia Cemetery.
