Howard C. Wright
November 24, 1910 - July 2, 1980Howard C. Wright, the son of Alva and Pearl McKibben Wright, was born November 24, 1910 in Madison County, near Peru, Iowa. He passed away July 2, 1980 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Howard moved to the Earlham community when he was an infant. In 1930 he graduated from Earlham High School and later attended Iowa State University.
On April 26, 1938 he was united in marriage to Mary McMenamin at Adel, Iowa. One daughter, Dixie, blessed their marriage.
Howard had a trucking business for several years and farmed west of Earlham. In 1971 he and Mary retired to Earlham.
Howard was affiliated with the Earlham Presbyterian Church.
Howard had a good sense of humor and always enjoyed his family and many friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary; daughter, Mrs. Dixie Smith of Eagle Grove, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mrs. Shari Brown of Ames, Steve and Susan of Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. Flora Waggner of O'Brien, Oregon, and two brothers, Don, of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and Guy, of Largo, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services were held July 5, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Earlham. Pastor Eldon Cole officiated the services.
Music was provided by Mrs. Donna Fastle, organist. Honorary casket bearers were John Brown, J. L. Cushing, Les Goeldner, Elton Hammans, Ralph Hunter, Earl Schalkle, and Stanley Williamson. Casket bearers were Earl Anker, Kirk Apple, Rod Clark, Jim Kress, Steve Peer and John Williamson.
Interment was at the Earlham Cemetery.
