MRS. C. W. BROWN DIES AT 96 YEARS

Life-Time Resident of This Community Dies Here Tuesday

Mrs. Charles W. Brown, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died Tuesday, Dec. 5 at a Winterset nursing home. She was 96 years of age.

Mrs. Brown was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Corgie W. Black, daughter of James and Charlotte Shaffer Black and was born at Winterset on Dec. 29, 1864.

She was affiliated with the West Star Methodist Church.

On Dec. 24, 1891, she was married to Charles W. Brown. He preceded her in death, as did also one daughter, Mrs. Edith Hale.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. L. L. Blomgren of Winterset; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother Harry Black, of Winterset.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home in charge of the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
