Winterset Woman Had Been Resident of County Most of Life

Mrs. Cora B. Brown of Winterset, a resident of Madison county most of her life, died Saturday, Jan. 29, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Brown was born in Madison county, Dec. 29, 1877. She was the former Cora Belle Husted, daughter of Thomas and Mary Sue Reager Husted.

She was married Oct. 10, 1894, to Melvin Allen. He preceded her in death many years ago. On Dec. 23, 1932, she was married to Robert J. Brown. He also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Methodist church of Winterset, in which she was active in the church circle. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by three sons and four daughters. Surviving are three sons, Ray Allen of Winterset, Bernard Allen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kenneth Allen of Earlham; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Henrichs of Winterset; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. E. K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
