Cora I. Bristow, 87, of Winterset died of heart failure June 7, 1999, at the Urbandale Rehabilation and Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, where he family will be present during that time to receive friends.

Cora Bristow was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Madison County to Harve Garfield and Alice (Freiberg) Mapes. She married Bill Bristow on April 10, 1939 in St. Joseph, Mo. She lived in the Macksburg and Winterset area her entire life, graduating from Winterset High School in 1932. A homemaker, she also worked 10 years as a cook at Bethesda Nursing Home in Winterset. Cora was a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors and a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Donnie Bristow (wife Jean) of Coralville; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Bristow of Des Moines; one sister, Vera Gambel of Carlisel; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund, which has been established in her name.
