Grace Breeding Services Held

Grace Carman Breeding, a lifetime resident of St. Charles, died Jan. 10 at Westview Acres in Indianola. She was 95 years of age.

Mrs. Breeding was born on Apr. 7, 1885, the daughter of Jake Waters and Adelaide Short Carman. On Oct. 22, 1908 she was married to Walter H. Breeding in Des Moines.

Mrs. Breeding was queen of the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival in 1974 and a 50-year member of OES Model Chapter 374. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in St. Charles.

Her survivors include two sons, Carman of Altoona and J. Ernest of Norwalk, a daughter, Susie Martin of St. Charles, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in St. Charles. Rev. Rolland C. Towell and pastor Jim Patrick officiated at the services. Burial was at the St. Charles cemetery.
