December 27, 1919 - December 1, 1984Willard Dale Rhine, son of William N. and Alma Rhine, passed away December 1, 1984 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa. Willard or "Brownie" as he was known was born December 27, 1919 at Prescott, Iowa.
He graduated from Redfield High School in 1936 and served his country in the Navy during WW II. He was united in marriage to Wilma Elizabeth Eyerly June 8, 1941 and to this union were born five children, Jean, Larry, Jerry, Betty and Jim.
Willard returned to Earlham in 1946 and established a plumbing and heating business. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Madison Lodge #568 AF and AM of Earlham. He enjoyed working with wood, from building houses to making toys for his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and an infant son. Survivors are: his wife Wilma; Larry Joe and Jean Vandewater of Greenfield; Larry and Sharon Rhine of Slater; Richard and Betty Poland of Treynor and Jim of Earlham. Also his 6 grandchildren; Bradley and Deborah Rhine, Amy, Melissa, Aaron and Bryce Poland. Two sisters; Mrs. Frank (Erma) Inman of Earlham and Mrs. John (Elnore) Mitchell of Adel and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, December 3, 1984 at the United Methodist Church in Earlham, Iowa with Reverend Helen Farr, Reverend Ernest Baiotto and Madison Lodge #568 AF and AM, of Earlham, officiating.
Organ music was provided by Gretchen Brittain. Pallbearers were Albert Fagen, James Smith, Darold Slater, Leland Pitcock, Leonard Pitcock and Lloyd Love. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
