Louie R. Wynkoop, a life-long resident of the Earlham community, died Friday, March 17, 1961, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 80 years of age.
Miss Wynkoop was born in Madison township, a daughter of Simeon and Mary Josephine Wynkoop. She was a member of the Fairview Methodist church during the years the family lived in that community. When they moved into Earlham, she transferred her membership to the Methodist church there. She was active in church work, serving on the official church board, in the W.S.C.S., and as a teacher in the primary department of the Sunday school.
Miss Wynkoop is survived by a brother, Clyde Wynkoop; and two sisters, Mrs. Ray Price and Mrs. Marian Wright.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Earlham Methodist church. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.

Earlham EchoLouie Ethel Wynkoop, daughter of Simeon and Mary Josephine Wynkoop, was born near Earlham, Madison county, Iowa, March 16, 1881. She passed away at the Madison county Memorial hospital just one day after her 80th birthday.
She spent many years in the Fairview neighborhood where she was a member of the Fairview Methodist church. When the family moved to Earlham she transferred her membership to the Earlham Methodist church. She had served on the official board of the church, being the treasurer of the World Service department. She was active in the Woman’s Society of Christian Service in which she served in many capacities. She taught in the primary department of the Sunday School for many years. She especially enjoyed the children and loved her work with them.
It was she who cared for the family home for so many years, caring for her mother, sisters and brothers. It was also in this home where many happy family gatherings were held including the sisters, brothers, their children and families.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, five sisters, Anna Cook, Aileen Wynkoop, Vergie Hamilton, Grace Wynkoop and Eva Wynkoop in infancy; also two brothers Gary and Zene. She is survived by one brother Clyde Wynkoop; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Wright and Mrs. Roy Price, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
