She attended the public schools of Madison county, graduating from the Earlham Academy in 1905. She attended Simpson College and Drake University where she received her degree. She taught school in Marne and Boone, then in the Des Moines Public Schools for 41 years until her retirement in 1952. She has made her home in Earlham since that time.
She joined the Fairview Methodist church in her girlhood, later transferring her membership to the First Methodist in Des Moines where she still was a member at the time of her death. Her Sunday School and church work were an important part of her life. She was a member of the Business Women’s class. Ill health made it impossible for her to take her usual place in the church at Earlham.
Her life was one of service. Everyone shared in her thoughtfulness; her family and her friends.
Surviving her are one brother, Clyde Wynkoop; three sister, Louie Wynkoop, Mrs. Pearl Price, Mrs. Blanche Wright; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
