Robert Branam, Winterset

Robert Alvin Branam, 89, died Aug. 4, 2004, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 9, at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Ernest Baiotto and the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Burial was at Penn Center Cemetery.

Bob Branam was born Sept. 25, 1914 in Missouri to William Arthur and Ada (Willcoxen) Branam. He was a 1934 graduate of Earlham High School. On Dec. 8, 1935, he married Esther DeVault. Bob was the service manager for Hunter Motors in Earlham and the owner and operator of Branam Hardware, also in Earlham. He was a member of the Earlham Methodist Church and served on the Earlham School Board and Earlham Library Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, James William and Junior Branam; and two sisters, Pauline Branam and Phoebe Bartelt.

He is survived by two daughters, Judith Moehlis of Cedar Falls and Shirley Coyle of St. Marys; one son, Ronald Branam of West Des Moines; a brother, David Branam of Adel; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Earlham

Robert A. Branam, 89, died at the Winterset Care Center South on Wednesday, August 4, 2004. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday August 9 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa with burial in the Penn Center Cemetery.

Bob was the former owner of the Branam Hardware in Earlham and a member of the Earlham Methodist Church. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Esther DeVault Branam in 1999.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Judith Moehlis and husband Ronald of Cedar Falls; son, Ronald Branam and wife Sandy of Des Moines; daughter Shirley Coyle and husband Allen of St. Mary’s; brother David Branam and wife Jean of Adel, grandchildren, Gregory, Scott and Jeffrey Moehlis, Julie and Ron Branam, Jr. and Kristin Carson; and great-grandchildren, Naomi, Amanda and Johathan, Teagan and Kaia Moehlis, Luke Branam Wenger and Ashley and Conner Carson.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Kuhn Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Earlham Methodist Church or the Earlham Library.
