FAITH BRADFIELD DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. Faith Bradfield, formerly of Winterset, died Jan. 3 at Santa Barbara, Calif., according to word received here this week. She was 81 years of age.

Funeral services were held Saturday in the Welch-Ryce chapel in Santa Barbara, with the Rev. Harold Longstreth officiating, followed by cremation. The urn will be buried in the family plot in the Winterset cemetery, at a time to be arranged for the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Bradfield was the former Faith Cook. She was born in Iowa Nov. 25, 1886, a daughter of John H. and Samantha Gray Cook. In early life she became recognized as a singer serving as a church soloist at Winterset and Ames. She also sang in opera.

After teaching school for several years, she became a registered nurse, working in Iowa for 40 years before moving to California in 1954. She had lived in Santa Barbara since 1959.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Taverner of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and a granddaughter.
