Harold "Red" Wycoff, 76, of Winterset died of cardiac arrest Aug. 17, 2001, at his residence
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Jim Howland officiating. Burial was at Grand River Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.
Red Wycoff was born Jan. 19, 1925, to William Arthur and Addie Mae (Shaw) Wycoff of Grand River. He married Lucile Mae Werts on Sept. 4, 1970, in Omaha, Neb. A retired ruck driver, he had been a resident of Winterset for 36 years, coming from Sioux City. An Army veteran of World War II, Red was a member and past post commander and adjutant of American Legion Post 184 in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile, of Winterset; a son, William Wycoff of Mason City; three stepdaughters, Sheryl Nichols (husband Tim) of Norwalk, Becky Leazenby (husband Richard)of Amarillo, Texas, and Patty Wycoff of Norwalk; a sister, Ruth Tate of Lebabon, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
