James Guy Moore
July 31, 1899 - January 25, 1985

James Guy Moore, son of Robert and Hattie Barr Moore, was born July 31, 1899, in Madison County, Iowa. He passed away January 25, 1985 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Guy, better known as "Happy" since childhood, because of his happy disposition, was raised in Madison County and attended the Earlham Academy.

On February 2, 1921 he was united in marriage to Lucille Clements. To this union was born one daughter, Patricia. Lucille passed away in 1953. Following Lucille's death, Happy was reunited in marriage to Esther Johnston on July 30, 1955.

Happy lived in the Earlham area his entire life and was a faithful member of Worthington Methodist Church since 1955.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Lucille and Esther, brother Ross and infant grandson, Jimmy.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Mills of Whittier, California and stepdaughter Phyllis Butler of Indianola, Iowa. Also surviving him are 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Obituaries – James “Happy” Guy Moore

Services for James “Happy” Guy Moore, 85, Earlham, who died Jan. 25 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Jan. 27 at the Worthington United Methodist Church in rural Earlham with the Rev. Helen Farr officiating. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born July 31, 1899 in Madison County, the son of Robert and Hattie Barr Moore. On Feb.2, 1921, he was married to Lucille Clements. She died in 1953. Mr. Moore married Esther Johnston on July 30, 1955.

He lived in the Earlham area his entire life and was a faithful member of the Worthngton Methodist Church since 1955.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Mills of Whittier, Calif., and a stepdaughter, Phyllis Butler of Indianola; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a brother and an infant grandson.
