JACQUELYN JOHNSON, Truro

Jacquelyn June Johnson, 59, of Truro died April 12, 2006, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Jacquelyn Johnson was born Feb. 26, 1947, in Osceola to Doyle and Doris (Frank) Johnson and was a graduate of Oakland High School in Oakland, Neb. She received her nursing degree from Broadlawns Nursing School in Des Moines and completed Nurse Clinician Training in Seattle, Wash. Jacquelyn was a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. She also started the Blank Center for Advocacy and Outreach Department program, which educated smaller outlying hospitals in the care of sick and premature newborn babies.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Johnson of Truro; a brother, Frank Johnson of Schaumburg, Ill.; and two sisters, Debra Hardin of Winona, Miss., and Lisa Jones of Overland Park, Kan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Neonatal ICU at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines or the Truro First Responders.
