Mr. Bishop was born at Ford, Iowa on June 15, 1901, a son of Elias J. and May Parmenter Bishop. He was married July 29, 1926 at Avon, Iowa to Esta M. Morris, who survives him.

He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, but had attended the First United Methodist church during his residence in Winterset.
