Vernon L. Morris, 77, of Winterset died April 1, 2006, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4, at the Pitzer Presbyterian Church. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Earlham Cemetery.
Vernon Morris was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Bartlett to Orville Edward and Edna (Briley) Morris. His marriage to Joan Miles took place May 9, 1953, in Des Moines. Vernon was a farmer all of his life. He also was a member of the Winterset Square Dance Club. For the past 12 years, he and his wife spent the winters in Coolidge, Ariz., and in the summer would return to Madison County, where Vernon would maintain the county fairgrounds.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Morris, and a grandchild, Jesse Wayne Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Winterset; two sons, Randall Morris of Nichols and Rick Morris of Winterset; two daughters, Becky Morris of Prairie City and Kathy Linthicum of Lathrop, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
