Zola May Bingaman, 89, died of congestive heart failure Nov. 10, 1996 at the Care Center South in Winterset. Funeral services were Nov. 14 at the Earlham Church of Christ. Pastor Wayne Douglas and Pastor Ted Morelock officiated the services. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
She was born April 11, 1907 in Madison County to Seth Thomas and Minnie Ettie (Pope) Sawyers Hamblin. She married Lawrence Owen Douglas on Dec. 25, 1924 and later married Harlan Wayne Bingaman on Aug. 20, 1961. She was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents,; one sister; one brother; one grandson; and one step-granddaughter.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Evelyn Shetterly and husband Edwin of Florence, Ariz., Betty Reynolds and husband Bob of Earlham, and Wilma Bobenhouse and husband Richard of Des Moines; one son, Wayne Douglas and wife Margrete of Albert Lea, Minn.; one step-son, Harold Bingaman and wife JoAnn of Ashland, Ore.; one step-daughter, Nancy Mettetal and husband Bob of Odenville, Ala., 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
