Leo George Bindel, Altoona

Services for Leo George Bindel, 77, a resident of Altoona Manor who died July 12 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, were held Saturday, July 14 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here with the Rev. Maurice Schulte officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Baker, Kan., on Feb. 6, 1907, he was the son of George and Catharine Rhem Bindel. Mr. Bindel was a retired laborer, an army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion.

In August of 1961 he married Grace Crosch. He had been living in Altoona for the past three years and before that in Granger.

Survivors include brothers, George and Walter, both of Winterset; and sister, Rose Zbierski and Josephine Schurber, both of St. Joseph, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and five sisters.
