George P. Bindel, Winterset

George Phillip Bindel, 88, of Winterset died from complications of a stroke March 2, 2000 at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Ed Pfeffer officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

George Bindel was born May 26, 1911, to George F. and Katherine (Rehm) Bindel of Baker, Kan. He married Ruth E. Mink on March 5, 1934, in St. Joseph, Mo. A retired farmer, George was a resident of Winterset and Madison County for 56 years, having previously resided in Brown County, Kan. He was an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member, for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, three brothers, seven sisters and one infant grandchild.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Paul Bindel (wife Connie) and James Bindel (wife Charis) both of Winterset, and G. W. "Bill" Bindel (wife Jacky) of Pocahontas; two daughters, Mary Kinney (husband Gary) of Griswold and Katherine Hartman (husband Dale) of Winterset; a brother, Walter Bindel of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
