Death Of FRED KALE

Fred Kale, who was born and raised in this county, died Sunday evening at the local hospital, about 7:30 o'clock, at the age of 51 years. Mr. Kale had been in good health, until a week prior to his death, when he took quite ill with bowl trouble. An operation was performed, but it did not seem to help him.

Mr. Kale was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Kale and was born August 15th, 1874, and lived for a number of years in Scott township. Later he moved to Winterset, and resided in his house, at the east end of Court avenue, until last fall when he moved into the apartment house that he built on West Court avenue.

Mr. Kale is survived by a daughter, Thelma, and three brothers and two sisters: Ora Harvey, in Florida; Wilbur, near St. Charles; Lester, of Winterset; Mrs. Ethel McNeley, of Des Moines; and Mrs. Ora Husted of Truro.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton at Tidrick's funeral home, Tuesday morning, at eleven o'clock, and burial was made in the Rock City (Winterset) Cemetery.

Fred Kale was born August 15th, 1874. He was the son of James and Ruth Kale of Scott township. In 1905 he was married to Nannie Link. To this union was born one child, Thelma.

During a revival held at Elm Grove by Rev. Bruer he was converted and joined the Methodist church at this place, afterwards transferring his membership to the Methodist church at Winterset.

As the result of a severe attack of influenza, his health had not been good for several years. He was taken suddenly very ill on April 11th and died on Sunday, April 18th, at the age of 51 years and 8 months. There remain to mourn his loss, his daughter, Thelma, two sisters, Cora McNeley and Etta Husted, and three brothers, Wilber, Lester, and Ora Kale.
