Word has been received here of the death of Edith Hillis Barker, aged 80 in St. Louis on Thursday, October 7th. Mrs. Barker was born in Winterset December 1873, a daughter of Dr. E. B. and May Moody Hillis, pioneer residents of Winterset.
She was graduated from the Winterset high school with the class of 1891. Following her marriage to Fred Barker, they moved to St. Louis where they have since resided.
Her husband died a number of years ago, and they had no children. She is survived by one brother, Dr. H. H. Hillis of St. Louis, who will accompany the remains of his sister here for burial in the Winterset cemetery at a later date.
