Elsie "Fay" Haines, 88 died May 21, 2002, at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the First Christian Church in Winterset. Graveside services of the cremains will be held at a later date.
Fay Haines was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Madison County to John and Agnes Armstrong. She married Ollie "Maurice" Haines in 1934. Fay retired in 1976 from Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset following 25 years of service in the operating room and dietary department. A longtime resident of Madison County, she had resided in rural Winterset until 1991. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset and the Good Neighbor Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter and a brother.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Fritz (husband Vernon) of Grand Junction; a son, Jim Haines of Des Moines; two brothers, Gary Armstrong of Des Moines and Rick Armstrong (wife Linda) of Winterset; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
