Mrs. Rachel Beedle, a pioneer resident of Madison county died at her old home, where her son John resides, Saturday, December 17th, at the age of 87 years, two months and two days.
She has been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Beedle the former Rachel Murphy was born near Terre Haute, Indiana and moved to Iowa with her parents when a girl of twelve years of age. The family came to this state in a covered wagon drawn by a team of oxen. They settled on a farm in Adair County.
She was married to A. C. Beedle, April 24, 1864 and they were the parents of ten children, Francis, Simeon, Wesley, Electa, John, Isabelle, Hiram, Roy, Guy and Maria.
The husband, two sons, Frances and Simeon and two daughters, Electa and Maria preceded her in death.
In additon to the six children, Mrs. Beedle leaves one brother Martin Murphy of Union Star, Missouri, and one sister, Mrs. Maggie Richardson of Arcadia, Nebraska and 28 great grandchildren.
The Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted the funeral service at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, Tuesday December 20th at one o'clock and burial in the Jefferson cemetery northeast of Winterset.

Mrs. Rachel Beedle, 86, died at her old home. Services were Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home; burial in the Jefferson cemetery north of Winterset.
Mrs. Beedle was born near Terre Haute, Indiana, October 15, 1846, the daughter of James and Sarah Murphy. When she was twelve the family came to Iowa in a covered wagon drawn by a team of oxen to settle in Adair county.
Ten children were born to them. Her husband, two sons and two daughters died some time ago. Her six children, a brother Martin Murphy of Union Star, Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Richardson of Arcadia, Nebraska survive.
