Raymond Maurice Ryan, 82, of Vista, Calif., died of cardiac arrest April 10, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at Winterset at a later date, with burial at Winterset Cemetery.
Maurice Ryan was born June 8, 1918, to Raymond and Ferne (Addy) Ryan of Winterset. He attended the local schools, graduating from Winterset High School in 1936. He married Irene Nichols. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy. After returning to Winterset, he was employed by Iowa Power and Light, then owned Ryan Plumbing and Heating until the family moved to Vista, Caif., in 1953. There, Maurice was a planner and estimator for the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Vista; two daughters, Kay Hungerford of Escondido, Calif., and Barbara of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Francene Ford of Vista; cousins Hugh Ramsey and Jack Jackson, both of Winterset, three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
